Bali Tips: Money
These are just a few reminders and tips that I've picked up from the various trips to Bali in the last four years. Generally, my advice will center on the Kuta and Legian area so if you're looking for info on Seminyak, Nusa Dua, the Bukit etc, this might not be the blog for you.
- Many of the money changers will offer a higher rate than others (lets say normal is 8635, they'll over 8900). Unless you are super confident about your own counting skills, dont be greedy. Go for the normal rate na lang at a reputable changer rather than the dodgy money changer operating out of the back of a dvd store. ;)
- Along Poppies Lane (coming from beach side) 1 at the very top of the street near the head office of Big Kahuna Surf School. They issue receipts and I trust them.
-Another reputable money changer is DIRGAHAYU Money Changer sa corner ng Legian Street and JL Pantai. Bank-style siya. They also issue receipts.
In general, we tried to change USD$100 at a time.
Other money related notes:
-- do not bring US Dollar bills minted in 1996!
-- do not bring US Dollar bills minted in 2003 with serial numbers beginning in CB
Those bills will be rejected by almost all the money changers in Bali. Even the banks.
